The Most Memorable Series Circuit

A few days ago I told you all about a complete electrical circuit. I'm not an electrician like some of the men over at this restoration company but I know a little about it. A series circuit is one type of circuits used in Las Vegas furnace repair service. Basically, the furnace has a control board that will send the signal to the different parts of the furnace. In short, there is a specific sequence a standard 80% AFUE furnace will … [Read more...]

A Question for You

I feel I must be jaded. Very much like other people in other industries are I'm sure. What I mean is my education in Las Vegas heating and air conditioning repair service, maintenance, and replacement skews my vision. So here is my question point blank. If you never heard of Global Warming & Cooling and you needed to purchase an air conditioning or heating system, what steps would you take? What would be your plan on … [Read more...]

Alternating Current and a Series Circuit

Electricity is dangerous, no doubt about it. Veteran HVAC technicians get careless and usually this leads to nothing more than a good scare. When you do Las Vegas heating repair service you take some things for granted that are not always the case. Safety second! What? Why second? Education first! In order to have a circuit with 120 volts of alternating current, there must be 4 things present. 1. There must be a voltage … [Read more...]

It’s All About the Heat

Today I was explaining the different types of air conditioning and heating units that can be found in Las Vegas and Henderson to a very nice woman over the phone. The first thing we discussed was the location of the unit. Was it on the ground? Was it on the roof? She said it was in the attic to the best of her knowledge. This told me we were working on a split system rather than a packaged unit on a roof. The next thing we … [Read more...]

NATE Certification part 2

NATE is an acronym for North American Technical Excellence. Many different groups found the lack of training deplorable within the HVAC industry and specifically in the South Western United States. As in Las Vegas and Henderson. These groups began to test technicians. The problem was the United States and Canada have very different climates since they are so large. A Las Vegas Air Conditioning Repair Service technician would stand … [Read more...]

NATE Certification part 1

What's up my bloggers? So reports of my demise were greatly exaggerated or so it would seem. I always wanted to say that. I would have you all know that Naomi wanted to take back the blog for the last week because she had some articles she wanted to write. For those who remember way back in February it was Naomi who actually signed up and she was our first blogger. When she became inundated with work I took over. I wouldn't let … [Read more...]

A Funny Thing Happened at the Forum

OK, a lot of you are saying I got the headline wrong. Well, 2 or 3 of you anyway. Had I known in advance that this would be the last post I ever wrote perhaps the two or three previous would have been more meaningful. Hakuna Matata! I feel I have many thanks to give out but first a big one to the group. The daily blogging exercise reminded me this world is full of diversity. The experience was enriching. Some of your sites … [Read more...]

Falling Back

So who forgot to turn their clocks back an hour? I've heard a couple different reasons why we set our clocks back. When I was younger the prevalent thought was it was for farmers. The idea was you could only farm during daylight hours so we had to change the time so the farmers would know when to wake up and go to sleep. As an adult this makes almost no sense what so ever. I work in heating repair service and can tell you it doesn't … [Read more...]

Faith Renewed!

Everyone gets down and out once in a while. Such was my case in November of 2003. It was my first winter and I had started my air conditioning and heating service business in May of 2003 so I had lost a couple of Las Vegas hot months. As a rookie business owner I didn't realize I would need summer profit to carry me through winter doldrums. I had thought I had done everything right and yet would still become the statistic everyone had … [Read more...]

Chilling Out in Las Vegas

I want to start off by apologizing to my faithful readers for not honoring my end of the deal yesterday. It was a really busy day for Las Vegas and Henderson heating repair service technicians and I know, excuses are like belly buttons. I think that's how the saying goes. I don't have too much time today either as it's a pretty darn cold here in the Las Vegas, Henderson Valley. Yesterday the high was 63 and today feels a little … [Read more...]
